  1. Lay your index finger (1) flat across 4 strings at the 1st fret — this is the barre.
  2. 4th string (G): 1st fret, held by the barre G♯
  3. 3rd string (C): 1st fret, held by the barre C♯
  4. 2nd string (E): 1st fret, held by the barre E♯
  5. 1st string (A): 1st fret, held by the barre A♯

Tips for playing C♯6 on ukulele

On ukulele the usual C♯6 shape is 1111, with the index finger barring all four strings at the 1st fret.

Notice the E♯ in C♯6 (C♯ E♯ G♯ A♯): each note of the chord takes its own letter (C–E–G–A), so the major 3rd has to be written E♯ rather than F — the same key on a piano, spelled to fit the chord.
