Sight Reading Trainer

Read a line of music and play it — on the on-screen keyboard, or on your own piano, guitar or ukulele with the microphone listening. Practice notes only, or notes and rhythm in time with a click.

Play along on your instrument
Choose “My instrument” and the trainer listens through your microphone: play each note on your piano, guitar or ukulele (or sing it) and it moves on when it hears the right one. Sound is analysed on your device and never recorded or sent anywhere.
Guitar music
Guitar music is written an octave higher than it sounds (the small 8 under the clef). The trainer allows for that automatically.

How to practice sight reading

  1. Start with Notes only: no time pressure. Find each note, play it, and the next one lights up.
  2. Read ahead: while you play one note, look at the next. That’s the real skill of sight reading.
  3. When a level feels easy, add Notes + rhythm. You’ll get a one-bar count-in, then play each note in time with the click.
  4. A few minutes a day beats an hour once a week. Your notes per minute and accuracy are saved so you can watch them improve.
