Tips for playing A♭m9 on ukulele
On ukulele the usual A♭m9 shape is 3322, with a small 2-string barre at the 2nd fret. It leaves out the root, which a bass player (or your ear) fills in.
Notice the C♭ in A♭m9 (A♭ C♭ E♭ G♭ B♭): each note of the chord takes its own letter (A–C–E–G–B), so the minor 3rd has to be written C♭ rather than B — the same key on a piano, spelled to fit the chord.
