  1. Lay your index finger (1) flat across 2 strings at the 3rd fret — this is the barre.
  2. 4th string (G): play open G
  3. 3rd string (C): play open C
  4. 2nd string (E): 3rd fret, held by the barre G
  5. 1st string (A): 3rd fret, held by the barre C
