How to play G♯m9
About the G♯ minor 9th chord
Playing it
On guitar, G♯m9 is most often played as a barre chord across the 4th fret (464446).
On piano, G♯m9 has four black keys (G♯, D♯, F♯ and A♯) and one white key. In root position it spans more than an octave, so many pianists play the root with the left hand and the rest with the right.
On ukulele the usual G♯m9 shape is 3322, with a small 2-string barre at the 2nd fret. It leaves out the root, which a bass player (or your ear) fills in.
