On guitar, G6 is one of the friendlier shapes: 320000 needs just two fingers and lets the open strings ring.

On piano, G6 sits entirely on white keys.

On ukulele the usual G6 shape is 0202, using two fingers.

Related chords

G6 contains exactly the same notes as Em7. Which name fits depends on which note is in the bass and what key you’re in.

Move a single note and G6 becomes a different chord: drop the E for G, raise E to F for G7, swap E for F♯ for Gmaj7 and lower B to B♭ for Gm6.
