About the B suspended 4th chord

Playing it

On guitar, Bsus4 has an open-position shape, x24400, using three fingers alongside the open strings. Don’t strum the low E string.

On piano, Bsus4 has one black key (F♯) and two white keys.

On ukulele the usual Bsus4 shape is 4422, with a small 2-string barre at the 2nd fret.

Related chords

Bsus4 contains exactly the same notes as Esus2. Which name fits depends on which note is in the bass and what key you’re in.

Move a single note and Bsus4 becomes a different chord: lower E to D♯ for B, swap E for D for Bm, swap E for C♯ for Bsus2 and add A for B7sus4.
